AI Agents and Co-thinking: The Future of Consulting
Over the last couple of years, we’ve finally nailed down the habit of interacting with AI through a “command and response” dynamic. You write a prompt, you get an output.
Even though LLMs have been on our radar since 2022, for one reason or another, we were pretty hesitant to actually bake them into our daily routines at first. Now, at the start of 2026, even though prompting has become second nature, we’ve reached a turning point: we need to move past just asking AI to “tell us something.” Instead, we need to work with the tech to design complex systems that actually “do something” for us.
To keep up with this massive shift, we’re already at the point where simple prompting isn’t enough. We need to start building autonomous agents, collaborating with them to design entire ecosystems that they can then orchestrate on their own.
Beyond Tools: Building Ecosystems
By now, we all know an AI Agent does more than just answer questions—it “thinks,” plans, acts, and course-corrects. For months, everyone’s been saying that 2026 would be the year of the big leap for companies, moving from automating single tasks to building workflows where multiple agents actually collaborate.
However, there are three things we need to talk about:
- Adoption Speed: Individuals are already struggling to keep up with how fast they need to learn and internalize these skills. Companies, by their very nature, need even more time to catch up.
- Skepticism over Results: Some data suggests that most corporate custom AI projects have flopped. Whether that’s entirely true or just close to it, we’re living through a period of major geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty. This fuels the skepticism that these budgets are just “sunk costs” with no immediate ROI.
- Digital Entropy: The AI background noise is deafening. Since it’s so easy now to churn out endless solutions, content, and code, we’re hitting a state of “digital entropy.” It’s becoming incredibly hard to tell what actually works and what’s just fluff.
In 2026, the real value won’t be in producing more, but in taking stock of the situation, making firm decisions, and producing better. We need to move from generation to curation: fewer filler words, fewer hallucinations, and way more precision.
Tech Consulting in the AI Era
In this landscape, the role of a consultant is to spark an “embedded” cycle within the client’s organization. Solutions aren’t just handed over; they are co-designed, built, and tested right alongside the team. This creates a continuous transfer of knowledge, ensuring the client grows at the same pace as the projects and the technology that will be the backbone of their business for years to come.
To make this happen, you don’t just outsource a project—you bring in people who know how to use AI and, more importantly, how to actually orchestrate it.
Our vision is built on three pillars:
- Selection based on an AI-mindset: We choose professionals who have already baked these tools into their “mental stack.”
- Development, Training, and Tooling: We constantly push for the training and the tools needed to get hands-on and test frontier innovation.
- Consulting as an Accelerator: Our external collaborators act as catalysts, speeding up growth by sharing their expertise and cultural background through daily, high-touch interaction.
Real Impact Beyond Automation
Agentic AI is going to be a massive speed multiplier, but its effectiveness will come down to how clearly we make the next set of decisions. Our job as a consultancy is to make sure a client’s tech innovation doesn’t turn into just another overhead cost or a “sunk cost” that stalls decision-making and breeds uncertainty. Instead, we ensure it becomes a genuine competitive edge.
